Most electric dirt bikes in this class ask you to plan the day around a single pack. The GT73 Pro was built the other way round: two removable batteries, a 3000W peak motor, off-road tires and full suspension, in an electric motorbike you can still pedal home if you ever run the second pack flat. It is the machine for the rider who wants trail capability on Saturday and a long, quiet commute on Monday.

The GT73 Pro runs two 60V 18Ah lithium packs together, 2160 watt-hours in total, both removable and both UL 2849 compliant. On throttle alone Riding’times publish up to 85 miles; with pedal assist that stretches to 155. Either figure is a day’s riding on one charge rather than an afternoon.

Because the packs lift out, they charge wherever the sockets are. Leave the machine in the garage and bring the batteries upstairs, or charge on the frame with both chargers connected. Two 67.2V 3A chargers come in the box and fill both packs in five to six hours.

Power

Power that keeps up with the ride

A 1500W rated rear hub motor with a 3000W peak and 338 Nm of torque, fed by a 60V 40A Fardriver controller. That is the part of the specification you feel on a hill: the GT73 Pro pulls from a standstill without being wound up first, and it holds speed on a climb that would have a smaller machine dropping back.

Riding’times quote 37 to 46 mph depending on the surface and the load. Our own listing rates it at 46. Both figures put it well past anything with a bicycle’s legal power, which is why the page below spends some time on where it can be ridden.

Comfort and control

Composed on every kind of road

Stopping is by two hydraulic disc brakes on 230mm rotors, with electronic braking from the motor layered on top. The front fork is aluminium with adjustable damping, and the rear shock is rated at 1200 lbs, so the suspension can be set for a light rider on a fire road or a heavy rider with a loaded rack.

Under it all sit 25 by 3 inch dirt tires on 7074 aluminium alloy rims, the load-bearing grade, which is where the 330 lb rating comes from. Riding’times shoot the GT73 Pro through water for a reason, and its IPX4 rating covers splashes from any direction. Charging is the one place water never belongs: never plug in a machine that is wet, or one whose pack looks swollen or damaged. Bring it straight in to us instead.

Engineered for power

The hub motor sits inside the rear wheel with the brake rotor bolted alongside it, so there is no chain to stretch or derailleur to bend on a trail. Peak output is 3000W, delivered smoothly from the first degree of throttle rather than in a lurch, which is what makes a powerful machine easy to ride slowly through a car park.

The red knob on each fork leg is the compression adjuster. It lets the front end be set firmer for a heavier rider on tarmac or softer for rough ground, and it is one of the things we set with you at handover rather than leaving to the manual.

The long, shaped saddle is built for standing up and sitting back down a hundred times on a trail, and the LED taillight is moulded into the back of it so nothing sticks out to be broken. The same light doubles as the brake light and works with the turn signals.

GT73 or GT73 Pro

Same frame, same wheels, same brakes and suspension. The Pro is the higher-voltage version: 60V packs in place of 48V, a bigger motor, nearly three times the torque and a faster charge. If your riding is mostly flat, the GT73 covers the same 85 miles.

How fast is the Riding’times GT73 Pro?

Riding’times publish 37 to 46 mph, depending on the surface and how much the machine is carrying. Our listing rates it at 46 mph.

How far does it go on a charge?

Up to 85 miles on the throttle alone, and up to 155 miles with pedal assist, from the two 60V 18Ah packs. Speed, hills, rider weight and temperature all pull those figures down.

Are the batteries removable?

Yes. Both 60V 18Ah packs lift out of the frame, so they can charge on the machine or indoors on their own.

How long does charging take?

Five to six hours for both packs, using the two 67.2V 3A chargers that come in the box.

Is the GT73 Pro street legal? Do I need to register it?

Riding’times certify it as an electric bicycle, but a 3000W peak motor and a 46 mph top speed put it outside the power and speed limits most states use for e-bike classes. Where and how you can ride it, and whether it needs registration or a licence, depends on your state and city. Check the rules where you live before riding on public roads; we are happy to talk it through in the shop.

Does it have a VIN?

It carries a manufacturer serial number on the head tube rather than a 17-digit automotive VIN. Riding’times do not issue a separate certificate of origin, but they can provide serial confirmation, the specification sheet and the safety and compliance documents if your state asks for them.

Is the battery UL certified?

Yes. Riding’times state both packs are UL 2849 compliant, with electrical safety testing and battery safety documentation available.

Can I ride it in the rain?

The GT73 Pro is rated IPX4, which covers splashes and spray from any direction. Never pressure-wash it, and never charge a machine that is wet or whose battery looks swollen or damaged; bring it straight in to us.

What is the difference between the GT73 and the GT73 Pro?

The Pro runs 60V packs instead of 48V, a 3000W peak motor instead of 2400W, 338 Nm of torque against 126, a 37 to 46 mph top speed against 28 to 37, and charges in five to six hours rather than nine to ten. Frame, brakes, tires, suspension, range and load rating are the same. The GT73 has its own page.

How heavy is it, and what can it carry?

123 lbs net, with a 330 lb maximum load. It is a machine you ride and wheel rather than lift.

What height rider does it fit?

Riding’times recommend 5’5” to 6’3”. Seat height is 30.3 inches. If you are near either end of that band, sit on one in the shop first.

Can I adjust the suspension?

Yes. The front fork has compression adjusters on each leg and the rear shock is rated at 1200 lbs. The adjusters are on the fork legs; ask in the shop if you want a hand setting them.

Does it come assembled?

From Riding’times it ships about 85 percent built, with the front wheel off. The tools are in the box, and our technicians can look it over at any Wilson’s shop.

Is the snow track kit available?

Riding’times make a snow track conversion kit that fits the GT73 Pro and the GT54 Pro. Ask us about availability and fitting.
