Power and range

Power that keeps up with the ride

The GT73 pairs two 48V 18.2Ah lithium packs, 1747 watt-hours between them, with a 2400W peak rear hub motor and a 48V 30A controller. Riding’times rate it at 126 Nm of torque and 28 to 37 mph depending on the surface and the load, on a full-twist throttle that gives you all of it from a standstill.

Range is the same as the Pro: up to 85 miles on the throttle alone, up to 155 miles with pedal assist. Both packs lift out of the frame, and two 54.6V 2A chargers are in the box so they fill together, in nine to ten hours, on the frame or indoors.

Comfort and control

Composed on every kind of road

An inverted aluminium front fork with adjustable damping, and a hydraulic rear shock rated at 1200 lbs. Riding’times moved the rear from a plain spring to a hydraulic unit, and the difference is in the damping: the wheel follows the ground instead of bouncing off it, and the machine settles faster after a hit.

Braking is by two hydraulic discs on 230mm rotors with electronic braking from the motor on top. Under it all sit 25 by 3 inch dirt tires, 70/100-19 motorcycle sizing, on load-bearing 7074 alloy rims. The IPX4 rating covers spray and splashes; charging is the one place water never belongs. Never plug in a machine that is wet or whose battery looks swollen. Bring it straight in to us.

Engineered for power

The motor lives inside the rear hub with the brake rotor beside it: no chain to stretch, no derailleur to bend on a rock. It delivers its 2400W peak smoothly from the first degree of throttle, which is what lets a powerful machine be ridden gently through a car park.

Riding’times GT73 questions we get asked

How fast is the Riding’times GT73?

Up to 37 mph. Riding’times publish a 28 to 37 mph band depending on rider weight, terrain and battery level.

How far does it go on a charge?

Up to 85 miles on the throttle alone and up to 155 miles with pedal assist, from the two 48V 18.2Ah packs. Speed, hills, rider weight and cold weather all reduce those figures.

Are the batteries removable?

Yes. Both packs lift out of the frame and can be charged on the machine or indoors. Two chargers are included so both fill at once, in nine to ten hours.

GT73 or GT73 Pro?

Choose the GT73 for the same range, frame and comfort at a lower price. Choose the GT73 Pro for more power and torque, a higher top speed and a charge that takes half the time.

Is it street legal? Do I need to register it?

Riding’times certify the GT73 as an electric bicycle, but a 2400W peak motor and a 37 mph top speed sit outside the limits most states use for e-bike classes. Where you can ride it, and whether it needs registration or a licence, depends on your state and city. Check the rules where you live before riding on public roads, and ask us in the shop if you are unsure.

What height rider does it fit?

Riding’times recommend 5’5” to 6’3”, with a 30.3 inch seat height. Shorter riders are better served by the GT54 or GT54 Pro.

Is it a good first electric motorbike?

Yes. The power comes in smoothly, the seating position is relaxed and the suspension is adjustable, which is why many first-time riders start on it. We set it up gently at handover and can firm it up as you get used to it.

What suspension does it have?

An inverted aluminium front fork with adjustable damping and a hydraulic rear shock rated at 1200 lbs. We set both for your weight when you collect it.

What brakes does it have?

Dual hydraulic disc brakes on 230mm rotors, with electronic braking from the motor layered on top.

Can I ride it in the rain?

It is rated IPX4, which covers splashes and spray. Never pressure-wash it, and never charge a machine that is wet or whose battery looks swollen or damaged; bring it straight in to us.

Is the battery UL certified?

Yes. Riding’times state both packs are UL 2849 compliant.

How heavy is it, and what can it carry?

116 lbs net, with a 330 lb maximum load.

Does it come assembled?

From Riding’times it ships about 85 percent built with the front wheel off. The tools are in the box, and our technicians can look it over at any Wilson’s shop.

Can I change the speed setting or modify it?

The GT73 has a speed-limited mode and a full-speed mode. We set it up for you at handover and explain how the modes work. Aftermarket modifications void the warranty, so talk to us before changing anything.
